What and Why?
You may be wondering how Yoga Therapy differs from a group yoga class. Many people are not familiar with Yoga Therapy since it is an emerging field in the West. Traditionally, yoga was taught 1 | 1. In the United States, people tend to associate yoga with a fast paced, group yoga class involving pretzel like contortions, wearing form fitting spandex, choreographed to a rockin playlist. Individual Yoga Therapy focuses on you, sessions are customized to meet your specific needs.
Yoga Therapy is accessible for every body. Your age, size, gender, ethnicity, stretchy factor, does not prevent you from finding your personal practice. The target is returning to balance. Yoga Therapy not only treats the symptom, such as a rotator cuff injury, but takes the whole mind/body into consideration. Certified Yoga Therapists (C-IAYT) are trained to provide support with numerous health conditions such as back pain, neck and shoulder issues, cardiac problems, asthma, migraines, IBS, insomnia, stress, anxiety, depression, the list goes on. If you are curious about what yoga entails beyond modern postural yoga, try Yoga Therapy.
I am honored to have the opportunity to establish a Yoga Therapy space in downtown Napa. I have lived in the Napa Valley since 2001, before there were any local yoga studios. My vision was to create a safe and serene place where I would enjoy practicing yoga. My mission is to pass on the ancient knowledge that has sustained my life. The yoga tools I have learned over the years were the reason why I was able to navigate through the challenges of living this human existence, while appreciating the moments of peace. I invite you to join me.
