What and Why?

Yoga Therapy

You are probably wondering how Yoga Therapy differs from a group class.  Many people have not heard of Yoga Therapy since it is an emerging field in the West. Traditionally, yoga was taught 1 | 1, a student would even live with their guru!  In the United States, people are more familiar with a fast paced, group yoga class involving pretzel like contortions, set to a rockin playlist.  Yoga Therapy focuses on the individual, targeted to your specific needs.

Yoga Therapy is designed for every body.  Your age, size, gender, ethnicity, stretchy factor, does not prevent you from finding what works for you.  The goal is returning to balance.  Yoga Therapy does not only treat the issue, such as a rotator cuff impingement, but takes the whole mind/body into consideration.  Certified Yoga Therapists (C-IAYT) are trained to provide support with numerous health conditions such as back pain, neck and shoulder issues, cardiac problems, asthma, migraines, IBS, insomnia, stress, anxiety, depression, the list goes on.  If you are curious about what yoga entails beyond modern postural yoga, give Yoga Therapy a try.

 

I am honored to have the opportunity to open a Yoga Therapy space in downtown Napa.  I have lived in the Napa Valley since 2001, before there were any yoga studios available.  I wanted to create a safe and serene space where I would want to practice yoga.
